AFPP® Company Profile

Australian Feral Pest Protection (AFPP) was established on the Gold Coast in 2019. AFPP aims to address the influx of feral pest species invading Australia; begin to limit the damage caused to native Fauna and Flora and stop the spread of infectious diseases.

AFPP creates safe, healthy environments by providing chemical-free feral pest removal solutions. AFPP is a feral pest control company that specialises in permanent feral pigeon removal solutions.

We also remove other feral vertebrate species such as rabbits, deer, wild dogs, feral cats, foxes, feral pigs, and goats. AFPP is licensed under the Weapons Act to carry out feral animal control in both rural and non-rural locations including residential, commercial, and industrial areas. AFPP can also provide damage mitigation permit (DMP) options through the Department of Environment and Science to cull unmanageable native species if they are endangering people or causing damage to property, its value and/or loss of income.

AFPP® Services

• Trapping
  AFPP only uses live catch traps to ensure there is no harm or stress to the pest species while they are being captured. Baits are utilised to lure them into accessing the traps while the doors remain open for a week or two, afterwards, the doors are closed to capture the pests. 
  
  

• Remote Activated Netting Technology

  AFPP utilises custom-made hand nets to capture pest bird species from sensitive environments like cafes and restaurants. We use food to lure the birds in close and then drop a net over them to restrain them. The birds are then transferred into a live animal carrier and humanely removed from the site. Once offsite the feral birds will be euthanised and any native birds will be transported to an appropriate location predetermined by the Department of Environment and Science.
  

• Culling
  AFPP is licensed to use firearms to cull pests in both rural and non-rural environments. We find safe, discreet locations on the property to perform the removal and use weapons that quickly and ethically dispatch the pest species. AFPP utilises the latest in thermal technology so we can perform this service virtually undetected in the middle of the night if discretion is required.
  
  

• Sedative Baiting
  Sedative baiting is different from baiting methods utilising poison used in the past, it is different as the sedative simply puts the birds to sleep. This method will work well for species such as Pigeons, Sparrows and Indian Mynas.

  The first step is to start by implementing a pre-baiting program to get them used to where the food is for at least a week prior.  When we are ready to start the removal the food is laced with the sedative and the removal begins. Within half an hour the effects will take place and we simply go around and pick up the sleepy birds which are then removed in a live animal carrier. 

  If any non-target birds are accidentally impacted by the sedative they are also collected and kept warm until the effects wear off and they can be released unharmed.

  
  AFPP does not and cannot release captured feral pest species as it is a violation of the Biosecurity Act 2015
  
  

• Damage Mitigation Permits
  AFPP provides options for clients having trouble with native species that are causing either damage to property or risks to individuals. This service is subject to approvals by the Queensland Government’s Department of Environment and Science before any work may begin and is governed by the parameters they specify in their approvals.
